Footpaths - Cinder Path

Working with the Ballater Paths group, Ballater (RD) Ltd has been successful in securing a £25,000 grant from Paths for All's Ian Findlay Path Fund. 

The grant is to fund the Construction Design phase of a possible upgrading of the Cinder Path and the paths linking it to the school, Monaltrie Park, and Craigendarroch Walk.  Following a tendering process, B(RD) Ltd has appointed Alan Jones Associates of Inverness to carry out the Construction Design phase.

Thanks are due to the many local residents and visitors who submitted their views on the Cinder Path and the desirability of upgrading it: their submissions greatly strengthened the application for funding and helped lead to its success.

It is important to note that this phase of the project is only the start of a long process.  It will look at the options for upgrading, will carry out the required tree and habitat surveys, will seek planning permission, and will put in place the specifications and documentation required to proceed to the next phase - the Construction phase - for which further fundraising will be required.

An important part of the Construction Design phase will be public consultation, so residents will have an opportunity to give their views on the proposals brought forward.
